Innovative Sensory Comforts Based on Scientific Research
The Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center was designed based on significant research into the needs of newborns, as well as feedback from real-life mothers. This unique tool is designed to simulate the comfort of the womb with customizable touch, sound, sights, and movement. Four unique seat positions and four different cradling motions mimic how you cradle and hold your baby, and six speeds allow you to customize the Center's movement based on your baby's mood and needs. A two-speed vibration provides baby with a subtle, calming "massage,Eand a built-in swaddle blanket, head support, and snug five-point harness keep baby feeling extra secure.

Soothing, familiar sounds help to relax your baby as well: choose from low-frequency sounds that mimic sounds heard in the womb; natural sounds such as heartbeat, rain and wind; or lullabies played through the high-quality speakers; or provide your own play list with the included MP3 connection and holder.

Baby's eyes are kept from over stimulation with an adjustable canopy, which controls light and limits baby's line of vision--making it easier for a tired baby to feel calm. A close-by mirror gives baby something interesting to focus on quietly.

Versatile and Convenient
The Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center's removable carrier seat can be placed on the floor to double as a stationary rocker. You can also use the Center with any Graco Infant Car Seat--so you can easily transfer your sleeping baby from the car to the Soothing Center in your home without disturbing his nap. The Center requires no assembly; it can be powered by five D-cell batteries (not included) or with the included AC adaptor.

About Graco
In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on.

Amazon.com Product Description
The world's first Newborn Soothing Center, Graco's Sweetpeace uses patented motion with four seating positions to create the perfect resting place for baby. Distinct sensations recreate a mother's movements and address the multi-sensory needs of infants. Developed with significant scientific research, the Sweetpeace calms baby via four of the senses: sight, sound, scent, and touch.

Sight: Because newborns need visual simplicity, the Sweetpeace is made with neutral colors for a calming effect, has an adjustable canopy to control incoming light, and hosts a mirror that helps baby settle by focusing on their reflection.
Sound: Comforting, low-frequency sounds recreate the in utero experience, while high-quality music offers sleepy songs for quiet times or upbeat songs for alert times. There is also a nature sounds (wind, rain, ocean waves) option, or an MP3 plug-in connection and holder allows you to create baby's customized playlist.
Scent: A parent's scent is most recognizable and soothing to baby. The Sweetpeace includes removable soft components (a swaddling blanket and head support) that can be infused with nature's "aromatherapy" and calm baby with the familiar smells.
Touch: A 2-speed vibration calms and relaxes with a subtle "massage" while the 5-point harness offers gentle ventral pressure that simulates "hugging." The Soothing Center also moves like mothers do. It has four unique seating positions that imitate how you hold baby, four cradling motions, three recline positions, and six speeds that can be adjusted to baby's mood.

Graco Sweetpeace

No tools are necessary to assemble the Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center.
Graco Sweetpeace

Babies (and parents) are calmed by the Sweetpeace's multi-sensory technology.

As if all of this wasn't enough to make you wish you had one of these when you were a baby, Graco threw in some other thoughtful features. The removable seat doubles as an infant carrier or a floor rocker. On the flip side, the Soothing Center's frame is car seat-compatible and accepts all Graco infant car seats. No tools are required to assemble the Sweetpeace. The device can be operated using the included AC adaptor or it can function on five D batteries (not included) should you be someplace without an available socket. Designed for babies up to 25 pounds.

4 out of 5 stars It IS pretty loud, even with a brand new motor!   July 8, 2010
Maggie L. Ubertini
I got mine on craigslist for half price. The motor was working intermittently and slipping so I called Graco and ordered a new motor (the entire tower) for 50 dollars. It is an older model, or so the customer service rep. told me, but even with a brand new motor mine still makes a pretty loud noise, so much that you have to turn up the TV to be able to hear it over the noise. It will still slow while swinging and almost stop, then starts again, so it seems to be a design flaw and not due to a run down motor. I also think the vibrating chair is even louder than the swinging motion.

My two week old can still fall asleep despite the noise, and it is one of the few places he will stay asleep for hours. The music entertains my 3 year old, and he likes to sing along. The sound quality is nice, and it does seem a bit loud to me while the baby is sleeping, but not loud enough to disturb him. He also likes to watch the toy hanging from the canopy.

3 out of 5 stars I loved it, My son did not.   June 7, 2010

I bought this because of all of the features. My favorite was the MP3 hookup. There are so many ways that this can be used, but my son was more of a hands on baby. He was very colicky and this swing only made him cry more. Its a beautiful swing & so many positions, vibrations, and tons of other things...it just wasnt right for us.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best items I received.   June 3, 2010

I love this swing. It is very easy to switch the swing seat out for the car seat. My son takes most of his naps in it and when we come home from car trips, I don't have to wake him up by moving him out of the car seat. The only thing I would change is to make it easier to take the material off to clean. You have to unscrew two areas to get the cover off. However,it washes nicely.

The BEST Baby Swing! I am a mother of three, and this has by far been my favorite! My only negative is the fact that I have big babies and my son is only 6 mos old and still loves his swing, but he weighs in at 21 lbs and it won't move anymore even though the weight says up to 25 lbs. Something to think about I guess! However, I have not checked the weight limits on the other swings. I may contact Graco, perhaps my swing is defective in that area.

3 out of 5 stars Could be better...   May 17, 2010

This was recommended to me by one of our friends who had a colicky baby. I loved the features, it swings side-to-side and back-to-front. It plays pre-recorded music, womb sounds, and has an iPod attachment. This part of the swing was a life saver, especially when one of my twins wanted to be held throughout the night.
However, it doesn't lay flat (the seat does adjust to sit more upright, we needed it to lay a lot less upright though). There are no fun toys on the activity bar (the mirror is too small and the teething ring is too heavy).
