About Graco In 1942, Russell Gray and Robert Cone formed Graco Metal Products, in Philadelphia, PA. For 11 years, the firm fabricated machine and car parts for local manufacturers. In 1953, Gray left the firm, leaving Cone as sole owner. Cone decided to manufacture his own line of products, but had trouble coming up with ideas. Enter David Saint, an engineer, tinkerer, and stained glass artisan who worked for Graco. Saint, himself a father of nine, was intrigued when an associate told him how his wife would soothe their tired and cranky baby while swinging in a backyard glider swing. Acting on this inspiration, he went to the drawing board and 18 months of hard work later, the world's first wind-up infant swing, the Graco Swyngomatic, was born. Graco sold millions of Swyngomatics in the coming years, becoming one of the world's leading manufacturers of juvenile products in the process. Today, Graco is a Newell Rubbermaid company, with 1500 associates worldwide. While a half-century has brought many changes to Graco, their dedication and commitment to designing and manufacturing top-quality products remains, and continues on. Lightweight, convenient, could improve the design July 28, 2010 Sandy Love how lightweight this stroller is but considering it's really only half a stroller with the carseat making up the other half it really doesn't fold up that small. The cupholders totally suck. They are way too shallow and small. A large bottle of water won't fit at all and anything above a small starbucks cup will fall out at the slightest jostle. The basket is nice and big. Handling could use definite improvement even with the front wheels unlocked. I also have a three wheeled stroller (baby jogger, city mini) and that thing turns on a dime. Would love to see a three wheeled version of this. Also, agree with the other reviewer who said brakes get stepped on easily, woke my baby quite a few times with that one. I have't experienced any of the tipping issues or problems with popping out that others have said. I do think both folding up and unfolding could be greatly improved, can't really do either one handed and if the wheels aren't in the right position when you fold it up it won't lock closed and will open right back up on you when you go to throw it in the trunk. But if your getting the graco carseat this is a he'll of a lot better than the travel system. That stupid behemoth is a complete waste of money.
YOU NEED TO BUY THIS July 22, 2010 Carefactor (franklin, mi) This is AWESOME... If you're like me, you went and bought a travel system.. and regretted it! The Graco system I bought is so bulky and heavy!! It drove me crazy.. Until I got this!! I love it. I used it for about 9 months, just click the carseat in, and you're good to go! We took it with us on vacation to Florida too, it was perfect. Only negative is that you can't use it without the carseat. I wish there were a way to!
Extremely happy with this product July 21, 2010 Rebecca (Lubbock, TX) I am so happy I got this thing. I don't have sidewalks in my neighborhood so when we go walk, it's at the park. This thing makes for and easy transition for my infant from the car to the walk so she doesn't get all upset and being unstrapped from the carseat and restrapped into a stroller. Definately cuts down on the fussiness. It is extremely lightweight and easlity stored b/c it collapses so flat. The basket is doable and the cup/key holders are sufficient. Once she gets bigger I expect to get a different stroller, but I had expected that no matter what I had bought prior to her birth so you can't beat the price on this one.
One thing, it doesn't go well over bumps or cracks, you have to tilt the wheels up a little - but that is probably any stroller with these kind of wheels. However, not a con for me, b/c my 2 month old loves the bumps.
Makes a great gift July 11, 2010 R. Kaur (NY) This wonderful stroller frame is probably in every baby registery because of the ease of use and you can't beat the price. Goes very well with the car seat and saves you $200 for a separate stroller.
Meh. Not as easy as I expected July 6, 2010 KarenH I was really excited about getting this because we are going to be traveling with our baby in the next couple of months and this will help at the airport. AFter getting it I am not quite as excited. My biggest disappointment, and it's significant, is that YOU CANNOT OPEN THIS WITH ONE HAND. There is some sort of lock thing on the side that, as far as I can figure out, has to be pushed simultaneously while pressing the button and turning the handle at the top. Even using two hands it is a major pain. I thought a light stroller frame like this would be easier not MORE difficult to use than my large stroller. Ah well, at least it is lighter and less cumbersome and maybe I'll get used to the lock.
